Marblehead Boating Center Rules, Protocols and General Ideas.

HOME

Cooperation is the most important issue. Make the situation work. Make the situation safe. When you are the only user at the Marblehead Boating Center, you may do different things then when other owners and crews want to launch or retrieve their boats.

Don't litter the boatyard. If you are too lazy to take your garbage and trash with you, at least put it in the garbage cans.

Don't restrict access to the hoist when other people need to use it. If you want to use the hoist for boat work/mast stepping, etc., you should do it when sailors are not launching or hauling their boats. Be aware of the tide. Allow deeper draft boats access when the tide is a problem.

Keep the hoist locked, with the hook tight into one of the rings or steel supports on the crane. The local kids like to use the hoist as a giant swing for swimming and diving. We don't want any children hurt because the hoist was not locked and secured. Don't let a Marblehead Boating Center member's negligence cause a child's injury.

Boats and trailers that are not actively being used in dry-sailing should not be stored in the lower yard. Boats and trailers in the upper yard should not block access to boats that are being stored or worked on by the Marblehead Transportation Company.

The Marblehead Trading Company is the other user of the boatyard. Do not prevent the Trading Company employees from doing their jobs.

PARKING: There is a limited amount of parking in the boatyard. Crew cars should be moved to the street and only towing vehicles should be kept in the yard. As always, cooperation is the most important issue. Learn to recognize the vehicles, trailers and boats of fellow members, to avoid inconveniencing other sailors.

There are numerous local businesses in Marblehead. Support the local businesses when you have the chance. Help those businesses be there when you need them. The Forepeak is part of Marblehead Trading Company. No matter where you live or work, you sail and keep your boat in Marblehead. Be a good citizen.
